不祥的信件、诡异的邻居、凶恶的威胁。一家人搬进乡村梦幻家园,恶梦却跟上门来。

《窥视者》是Netflix 2022上映的美国悬疑惊悚影集,剧情讲述了搬到郊区的布兰诺克一家,以为自己生活在梦想中的新家,却意外陷入了一场活生生的噩梦。一个自称“偷窥者”的神秘人发送了一封令人毛骨悚然的信,但威胁信仅仅是个开始。随着许多奇怪的事情接二连三地发生,社区的各种黑暗秘密逐渐浮出水面。

狄恩和诺拉夫妇俩刚在纽泽西州西田市郊区置产,拿出毕生积蓄买下了恬静宜居的梦想家园,但他们很快就发现,左邻右舍实在不怎么友善,让夫妻俩觉得自己与当地小区格格不入。

故事根据真实事件改编。2014年6月,德里克和玛丽亚夫妇在新泽西州韦斯特菲尔德(Westfield)以130万美元的价格买下了一处1905年荷兰殖民复兴建筑。这曾是他们梦想中的房子。然而,他们最终以50万美元的亏损出售了这处占地六室的豪宅。

作为一个在加拿大温哥华生活了20多年,当了14年房地产经纪和10年建商的我,尽管绝大多数邻居都温和善良,但是也不乏形形色色的奇葩邻居。

这些邻居的特点是隔三岔五找事情,向市政府投诉,无中生有,这里仅举几个例子(来自同一家邻居):

  • 拆房的时候院墙围栏开了一个口,她的狗会跑出去,要求速来修理;
  • 院墙围栏,跟政府投诉挖出来的土堆起来,堆在院墙围栏上了
  • 屋主把土挖低,过后还同意换新的院墙围栏
  • 院墙围栏颜色:要和她的院墙围栏颜色一致;要提前漆好要她满意了才能安装
  • 抱怨施工时楼梯间里的灯照到了她女儿的房间
  • 排水问题:她家地势低,因为温哥华多雨,向政府投诉;她家地下室没有泵,可能会被淹(其实没有证据被淹或进水);
  • 屋檐雨水管没有及时装,下雨时屋顶的会水留到地面,她家受影响(没有证据);
  • 感觉政府的检查官都是站在白人邻居那边,邻居投诉马上就屁颠屁颠的来查看,然后责令整改。
  • 油烟机刚刚安好,工人打开电源试了一下通风效果,只开了几分钟,邻居就向政府投诉有噪音;政府派人来测试;

最终屋主实在忍无可忍,当着政府测试人员的面爆发了,跟邻居当面理论,我们在建房过程中很少有屋主会为我们挺身而出去怒怼邻居或者政府,一瞬间屋主帅哥的形象在我心目中高大起来,令我高山仰止。这下邻居似乎终于怕了,再不找麻烦了,终于才能把房子建好。

高港的一个中国人家庭,几年前向市政府申请,想把一个小溪斜穿他家宅基地的局部改道并加以改造,修成水渠和绿化带,一方面美化后院的环境,一方面方便他日后建一个理想的房子。

他花了8万加币按照政府的要求请了各种专家设计,出报告,论证和开会,并且已经获得联邦海洋和渔业部的批准,结果市政府审批的时候,遭到邻居的强烈反对,不了了之。从市政府的纪要来看,邻居的信里不仅有非常刻薄的言语,还有很多种族歧视的言论,让咱们来“欣赏”一下这些新的内容:

I am writing this e-mail in regards with the request of the 10,000 square house that is planned for POCO. I am sure lots of residents are opposed with the proposition of Mr. Owner. How anybody can be so greedy is beyond my comprehension. Not only does a certain ethic group owns already half of Vancouver, but now this one person wants to move our CREEK as well.

I’m sure a smaller home could be appreciated on that lot and leave the natural stream as it is to be enjoyed.

I understand that the dept of oceans and fisheries has given permission to a foreign buyer who wants to build a mega home 10,000 sq ft located on ABC Ave to have Maple Creek diverted. My home is located by the creek and my property runs into the creek. I have respected the rules and always maintained the creek so that the salmon could come back to lay their eggs Never in a million years would I ask to destroy the course of this creek so that I could feed my ego to build a family mega home which might be only occupied parttime. Not only am I against this home going up but it will be an eyesore to the surrounding area. We moved here 46 years ago because of the look of the town, but now it is changing to look like a mish mash of money talks and the quaint town of ago is gone. Our salmon stocks are getting smaller and everything should be done to maintain stocks, not diverting creeks to satisfy some foreign buyer because of a status symbol that they are looking for. It seems to me that this person is only interested in what this mega home will make him look . With the authorization it seems to me that there are two sets of rules -one for foreign buyers with lots of money and people who are born and raised in Canada and who follow the rules and regulations of this country. Again I would like to say that diversion of this creek will cause havoc amongst the people who live in the area.

I would like to ask the City of Port Coquitlam to review the plans for redevelopment of the property at 1234 ABC Avenue. This is an overly zealous attempting to accommodate a 10,000 (plus) sized home in a well established neighborhood of moderately sized family homes.

Besides requiring the diversion of a fish bearing stream (Maple Creek) the oversized home will infringe on a quiet, well established neighborhood. The property owners have never been present to meet any of their neighbors; nor have they taken the time to inform their neighbors of their intentions to redevelop the property.

An absent landlord is one thing; but an absent property owner who intends to infringe on a well established neighborhood is something the City of Port Coquitlam has to consider an infringement on the established citizens of the community. Please stand up for the tax payers in the Woodacres community and do not allow this redevelopment to proceed.

My husband and I have lived on ABC Avenue for fifty plus years and have enjoyed Maple Creek as it is.

I seem to be getting the run around here as to why okay was given to a Foreign Buyer who wants to build a 10,000 sq ft Mega home and a 3,000 sq ft garage on this property located in Port Coquitlam, B.C. on ABC Ave. This is a salmon bearing creek, also a source for food for wildlife and nesting place for ducks, birds etc. It seems that common sense was not around at the time. These types of creeks should be kept in pristine conditions to encourage salmon to return to spawn as the stocks are declining not diverting them to satisfy some Foreign Buyers ego for a mega home. What a shame that two sets of rules apply here, one for Foreign Buyers who are not interested in preserving the surrounding habitat and one for Canadians who follow the rules and would not think of destroying the surrounding habitat. I would also like to say that upon viewing this area trees will be felled to accommodate this structure. I am appalled that this has gone forward. I question why this buyer has chosen our area to build here when he could have selected other areas that in my opinion are far more suitable to accept his type of home.

Im part of the first Maple Creek class to graduate from Maple Creek Middle and I am absolutely shocked these Asians are allowed to move the creek.

If this doesn’t reek of corruption I dent know what does.

I have spent much time at that location that is being spoken of and i have the pictures to prove it.

You absolutely can’t divert this creek.

And again Mr. Moore we had this discussion a few months or so ago or less about how id like to have “family home preservation” and this is not what I’m talking about.

We have yet another perfectly good home that’s going to be torn down for a mansion? Are you serious with me right now guys?

How is this making housing more affordable? It drives up the cost of housing.

Also, why would you want a nicely covered up area to be gutted into a mansion eyesore? It will look awful that’s not a very big space for a mansion.

This guy needs to be stopped right now. This is beyond ridiculous.

在本那比,温哥华和列治文这些城市,由于华人聚集人口比较多,邻居一般对华人建新房会采取开放的心态和宽容的态度。

昨天温哥华市长选举揭晓,来自香港的二代华人沈观健高票当选,除了获得了当地选民的支持,这也绝对体现了我们广大华人积极参政的力量和政治上的觉醒。加拿大绝对不是政治上的避风港,尤其是我们生活的BC省,近年来政府在房屋上的跟中税收,例如空置税,外国人买家税,空中飞人投机税,300万以上豪宅的额外税收,以及政治家和媒体的舆论等等,大部分都是针对我们华人这个族群。我们都知道外国人指的大部分是哪个族裔。沈观健当选温哥华市长是华人在加拿大政界取得的一个里程碑是的胜利,然而,华人在参政议政,和想在加拿大建立自己平安永久的家,都任重而道远。遇到不公的事情尽量不要沉默和忍让,要勇于发出自己的声音。
